Welcome to Train Biomedics Initiative Uganda
We are a non-for-profit biomedical engineering and research organization based in western Uganda in Mbarara city that intends to bridge the gap between hospitals, healthcare workers, biomedical engineers, equipment suppliers and healthcare students who are interested in improving patient care through Research and Innovation based on biomedical technology including Al Nanoscience, quantum physics, among others. It aims at improving patient care in both private and government hospitals through training, equipping, installing, maintaining, calibrating, servicing and repair of medical equipment/devices.
Low resource hospitals cannot afford to pay biomedical engineers to maintain and service their equipment. Equipment breakdown is high in LMC’s due to delayed/lack of maintenance, servicing, lack of timely repair, poor equipment handling and use skills. Patients have suffered from radiation exposures and excess energies due to uncalibrated and standardized equipment . Due to poor training on use of biomedical equipment & devices have led to miss-diagnosis and infection transfer due to poor cleaning and dis-infection of these devices as they are used from one patient to another.
We aim to close these gaps through training of biomedical engineers, students and hospital staff on effective use, maintenance and standardization of medical equipment through research and innovation.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
At Train Biomedics Initiative Uganda, we encourage collaboration between engineers, medical professionals, and researchers to facilitate the development of innovative medical equipment for low resource communities.
Research and Innovation
Support research initiatives aimed at advancing biomedical technologies. Create an environment that encourages innovation in medical device design, ensuring solutions meet current healthcare needs.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of services, as explained below. We request you to be part of this fight for having improved equipment quality and life span hospital equipment. Our focus is to train future biomedical engineers and healthcare workers how to effectively use, maintain, service, standardize and calibrate medical equipment and devices. This is to allow us have quality and standard medical equipment in our hospitals. hence improved service delivery in hospitals for improved patient care.
Training
We train biomedical engineers, and students on how to operate, service, repair, calibrate, standardize and ensure safety of medical equipment in hospitals.
Hospital staff on using and managing medical equipment to ensure accuracy, reduce errors and safety of patients. This promotes improved patient care, optimal utilization of resources preventing unnecessary damage and down time
Research and Innovation
We promote biomedical research and innovation for improved patient care in low resource communities. We also train engineers and students how to write grant winning proposals and concepts notes as well as papers from starting to write to publishing level. We call upon funders researchers and other interested personnel’s to support us in our projects aimed at improving patient care.
Repair & Maintenance
This involves preventive, corrective, predictive, condition based, run-to-failure, total productive, scheduled, and emergency, risk based and reliability centered types maintenance. We do these depending on the type and state of the equipment the hospital owns. Effective and timely repair of medical equipment is important for quality of patient care. Â
Medical Supplies
We help facilities in Sourcing medical equipment that are of good quality, cheap, durable, and long lasting to help them have value for money spent. We follow a series of steps to ensure the procurement process is smooth, efficient, and meets the specific needs of healthcare facilities.
Hospital management services
With our team, we support hospitals in the following ways: equipment management, technology assessment, procurement assistance, training and education, quality assurance, information technology integration Telehealth and remote monitoring, emergency response planning, regulatory compliance, infection control, budget management, innovation and research.
Equipment Installation
This is done by a team of biomedical engineers and other staff at biomedical aid research Uganda. This involves the following steps: physical set up, connection and calibration, software installation, testing and validation, training, documentation and compliance with regulations. Proper medical equipment installation is crucial to prevent errors to ensure patient safety.
Fostering Train Biomedics Initiative Uganda
